The Original Review

GameSpot — Jordan Ramée
Rated: 7/10 · Published:
“The best parts of the experience are drowned out in the dreadful static of Oxenfree II’s unmemorable companion and irritating secondary antagonist.”

First of all, this review spends half its runtime praising Oxenfree II's writing, voice acting, atmosphere, sound design, themes, isolation, supernatural dread, and emotional structure, then walks up to the score counter and says, 'But one man named Jacob annoyed me, so please remove several points from the receipt.' This is not criticism; this is a customer trying to return an entire haunted radio because one button felt emotionally needy. But does it actually WORK? According to the review itself, yes, constantly, loudly, and with enough praise to fill a lighthouse reviewed by a moth.
